LIVING AT SMU
SMU offers the best of two worlds -- a spacious, park-like campus in a safe
and prestigious residential neighborhood that's less than 10 minutes from downtown
Dallas. With 73 buildings on the University's 163-acre grounds, getting from
class to class is easy.
The Hughes-Trigg Student Center is a virtual Main Street under one roof -- offering restaurants, a post office, snack shop, lounges, and a game room, as well as a box office, convenience store, art gallery, theater, and offices for student organizations. Our campus is also within easy walking distance of shopping, retail services, and restaurants, and a short shuttle bus or DART Rail ride from malls, entertainment, night life, professional sports and concert venues, and other attractions.
Living On Campus
SMU has 14 residence halls, including "theme halls" for honors students, arts students, students who are active in community service, and students who prefer a substance-free environment.
All residence halls have Ethernet connections in each room. If you don't have a computer of your own, several community terminals are available in each hall. The University guarantees housing to all first-year students who pay deposits by May 1.
For more information about living on the University campus, visit SMU's Residence Life and Student Housing home page. Find a page describing the features of each residence hall and community at their Living in the Residence Halls page.
