International Student And Scholar Services Office
The International Office is here to give the most efficient and accurate service possible to approximately 700 international students and scholars at SMU. To achieve this, students may visit with an international student adviser for walk-ins (limited to 20 minutes) on a first come, first served basis or students may schedule an appointment with an adviser by calling 214-768-4475. Please make an appointment for the following cases:
- To apply for Optional Practical Training
- To apply for Change of Status
- To apply for Reinstatement
- To apply for Economic Hardship
In order to facilitate a timely and successful appointment, please see what paperwork is required to bring for each of the situations listed above by visiting the following web site:

Walk-in appointments are scheduled:
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9-11 AM and 2-4 PM
- There are no walk-ins on Fridays
The ISSS Office serves walk-ins on a first come, first served basis. Please be prepared to wait your turn if you visit during walk-in hours.
