It is the policy of Southern Methodist University to provide an internal audit organization to serve as an independent appraisal activity for the review and evaluation of all operations of the University. 

As such, it will assist administrative personnel at all levels by providing information to help them evaluate and control the operations for which they are responsible.  The Internal Audit staff shall have full, free and unrestricted access to all University schools, activities, records, property and personnel.
