HUNT LEADERSHIP SCHOLARS PROGRAM
Max Benassi
Max is a Junior from Rancho Santa Fe, California. He is interested in pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering/Math major with a minor in Biology.
High School Leadership Activities & Experiences:
- Organized the Kids Korps Build-a-Bike, which assembles volunteers to assemble bicycles for children of military families whose parents are overseas and was a starting member in Sturdy Wings, a support group for students dealing with loss or grieving.
- Participation in the Associated Student Body as Sophomore Class Secretary, and as a Junior participation in Los Locos, the premier school spirit organization. Senior Year I served as Senior Class Vice President.
- Four years of Wrestling, Three of which were at the Varsity Level. At the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) tournament I placed 5th as a Sophomore, 3rd as a Junior, and 2nd as a Senior.
SMU Accomplishments
- Co-President of the SMU Sailing Team
- Founder and Driver of the SMU Redbull Soapbox Derby Team
- Involvement in the Sigma Chi Fraternity including Alumni Chair and Tribune, founding the Brotherhood Chair position, Pledge Class/DerbyDays Chair
- Global Business and Market Development Internship at Qualcomm Life
- In talks with a new healthcare solutions startup wanting to set up a collaborative programming project with SMU Engineering
