Study Sociology in Poland
Nationalism and National Identity (SOCI 4365/5330) --
This course will focus on the case of
Polish nationalism through several critical periods in Polish history,
such as partitions, WWII, and the collapse of communism.
Observational Methods (SOCI 4365/5341) --
Observational Methods is a qualitative
methods course that focuses on observational field methods, visual
sociology, and content analysis.

Through everyday observations and site visits in Poland -- for example, to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum, the Jasna Gora Sanctuary, The Warsaw Uprising Museum, and other museums and sites of historical importance -- students will observe and document the portrayal of Polish national identity.
Locations: Waraw, Krakow, Oswiecim, and Czestochowa, Poland.
Program Dates: Summer II, July 13-August 11, 2011
