Dining for Darfur-Dallas was a Charity Dine Out that raised funds to help the victims of the war in Darfur, Sudan.
- Participating restaurants agreed to donate 5% of their gross sales for the evening of October 11, 2007 to provide direct humanitarian aid. (Tax deductible.)
- The event culminated the conference about the Darfur genocide entitled “Does Dallas Care?”
that was held on October 9 & 10 at Southern Methodist University.
Where did your money go?
100% went to the International Rescue Committee’s humanitarian work in Darfur and Chad which provides:
- Life-saving water and sanitation
- Protection and counseling for women terrorized by sexual violence
- Funding for the operation of hospitals and clinics
IRC has worked in Sudan since 1982 and in Darfur since 2004. The IRC pairs global advocacy with its direct relief work on the ground. Learn more at www.theirc.org.
The Human Rights Education Program would also like to
