90-Day Review
The first 90 days of your employment at SMU are considered to be your probationary or trial period. During this time, both you and your supervisor should be evaluating your performance. At least two weeks prior to your 90th day of employment, you and your supervisor should schedule a meeting to review your performance.

What to expect when you meet
During this meeting, feedback from both you and your supervisor is encouraged and may be documented on the review form. Your supervisor will forward the original to the Department of Human Resources. Each of you should retain copies for your files.
Some Performance Review forms have been customized to better meet the goals of the division or school. Check the Human Resources website to locate the specific Performance Review form used by your department.
What to do prior to the review
Complete the following before your 90-Day Review meeting:
- The Performance Review web tutorial
- Your 90-Day self-review
- Two on-line web tutorials: "Preventing Sexual Harassment" and "Preventing Workplace Discrimination"
Be sure to check with your supervisor to see if there are additional requirements.
