Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D)

Full-time and part-time faculty and staff have the opportunity to purchase AD&D Insurance to reduce the financial hardships associated with death or serious injury resulting from an accident.

  • Coverage is available in $10,000 increments up to $500,000, and you have the option to purchase individual or family coverage.  The amount you select is referred to as the Principal Sum.

  • If you elect Family Coverage, your spouse or domestic partner will be covered for 60% of your Principal Sum and each child will be covered for $10,000.

  • AD&D premiums are deducted from your pay on a pre-tax basis.

 

How to Calculate the Cost of AD&D Insurance: Divide the amount you elect by 10,000 and multiply the result by the applicable rate to determine your premium.

 

Example: Monthly employee electing $300,000 Individual Coverage → ($300,000 divided by 10,000 = 30 x .20 = $6.00 per month).

Individual Coverage: $0.20 Monthly - $0.09 Bi-Weekly

Family Coverage: $0.35 Monthly - $0.16 Bi-Weekly
