90 Day Probationary Terminations
Please answer the following items in
memo form to be sent to the Employee Relations Manager, Rebecca Sampson. For any
questions, contact Rebecca at
rsampson@smu.edu
- Request that the employee be
terminated.
- Give employee’s date of hire and
include any previously granted extensions.
- List all specific reasons
for termination. What exactly did the employee do or not do? What were the
specific behaviors of concern? (Do not include emotions or assumption – focus on
specific behaviors or actions.)
- Show how the above behaviors were
a violation of job expectations.
- List all coaching sessions with
the employee to correct his/her specific job concerns. (Dates and items
discussed.)
- Has the unacceptable behavior
continued in spite of the coaching session?
You
should receive a call from the Retention Manager upon receipt of this memo in
order to discuss the situation and to design a performance strategy. If the
termination is granted, be prepared to set a specific termination date and to
complete a termination form (which can be found on the HR website under HR
Forms.)
