ACUHO-I Internships

SMU RLSH is offering three internship opportunities this summer. Each intern has specific responsibilities as outlined below. In addition, all interns will participate in summer orientation for new students, meet and network with other Student Affairs professionals and summer interns (including interns from NODA and NACUFS) and visit to a regional university with interns and professional staff.

Summer Residence Hall Director (HD Intern)

  • Summer School Hall Director responsibilities for Summer School Community (programming, supervision, community development)
  • Residence Life committee involvement/projects
  • Plan and execute Summer School RA Training
  • Organize Residence Life & Student Housing University Exchange with regional University
  • On-call duty responsibilities
  • Other interests & experiences expressed by the Intern

Summer Conferences Intern

  • Assist with planning and coordination of summer conference housing

  • Supervise, train, and evaluate Summer Conference Staff

  • Schedule desk operation from 8:00 am to Midnight with coordinating on-call process from Midnight to 8:00 am, complete floor plans, and create invoices for conference groups

  • Responsibilities as Hall Director for Summer Staff Community

  • Work closely with summer orientation housing and presentations

  • Serve as liaison with SMU Conference Services and conference groups
  • Serve as on-call staff member for summer conferences
  • Other interests & experiences expressed by the Intern

Prelude and Academic Initiatives Intern

  • Serve as intern coordinator for the Prelude program (for conditionally admitted students), including residence hall occupancy, Orientation, academic programming series, mentorship/individual conversations, and coordination of other residence hall activities
  • Work with Summer School Residence Hall Director intern in the following capacities:  facilities, occupancy, student issues, and some programming
  • Residence Life committee involvement/summer projects
  • Assist in facilitation of Student Affairs/Academic Affairs programs and initiatives
  • On-call duty responsibilities
  • Other interests & experiences expressed by the Intern
