Academic Interests:

History of Mexican Americans, Native Americans, the U.S. Southwest, and Mexico.

 

 

 

Personal Background:

Ruben Arellano is a doctoral student. He is part of a small team of graduate students that has researched and published on the history of Latinas/os at SMU and in Dallas. One of Ruben’s major academic interests is exploring the confluence of southwestern cultures and the way such encounters impact group and individual identities. He is a native of Dallas, TX; a proud father and husband; and is a member of Kalpulli Tonalpilli-Mexikah--a traditional, indigenous Mexican community.
