JUSTIN M. GERMAIN

Educational Background

  • BA in History, 2004, University of North Texas

  • MA in Human Relations, 2007, University of Oklahoma

I am a native Texan who was born and raised in Fort Worth. After  graduating from UNT I received a commission in the United States Air Force and served as a maintenance officer with the 552nd Air Control Wing at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City.  I served for three years and was able to deploy to a number of fascinating places, including Montevideo, Uruguay.  While living in Oklahoma City I attended Oklahoma University and received a Master's in Human Relations.

I am now getting back to my true love--history.  My bachelor's focused mainly on Mesoamerica and the Spanish Borderlands with a special spotlight on the relationship between the Comanche, Apache and the Spanish starting with the attack on the Mission at San Saba.  Since then my interests have changed to the world of Pericles and Augustus. I plan on focusing my studies on Classical Greece between 490-336 BC.  I am fascinated by that most peculiar city-state of Sparta and how it interacted with Athens, specifically in the way of gender roles and how women were viewed in each respective society.
