· Leah
Bowman is a born and raised Hoosier from a small rural
community in east central Indiana. She completed her
undergraduate degree at Indiana University-Bloomington
with a double major in history and art history as well
as a minor in religious studies. She focused her
undergraduate studies on European history. She wrote
her senior seminar research paper on the concept of the
neue Frau in relation to the sexual reform
movements in the Weimar Republic. At Southern
Methodist University Leah will continue to focus on
gender in the European context and continue research on
the continually shifting roles of women in the early 20th
century, including the women’s suffrage movement,
women’s roles in the home and family, and women in the
workplace.
