The
theme of the Sharp Lecture Series for 2006 will be "Science and
Society."
|
On Thursday, February
16, at 6 p.m., Robert
Richards of the University of Chicago will speak on Charles Darwin, and
later in the semester
Martin Sherwin of Tufts University will follow with a talk on J. Robert
Oppenheimer.
This series is designed to enhance
our understanding of the great explanatory theories of contemporary science,
our appreciation of the thinkers who developed them, and our perceptions
of the tremendous consequences that have helped to shape the human
condition at the start of the twentieth-first century.
