If you are a domestic* student enrolled in 9 or more credit hours, select the scenario below that applies to you:

  • If you are covered by your parent's, spouse's, or your own private health insurance, then you must WAIVE the Student Health Plan each semester or you will be auto-enrolled in the Student Health Plan and the semi-annual premium will be charged to your SMU student account. Go to: https://access.smu.edu (Note: The Health Insurance button in the Student Center component of Access.SMU will appear only after a student has enrolled for classes each semester.)

  • If you do not have health insurance, then you must ENROLL in the Student Health Plan and the semi-annual premium will be charged to your student account. Go to: https://access.smu.edu (Note: The Health Insurance button in the Student Center component of Access.SMU will appear only after a student has enrolled for classes each semester.)

If you are a domestic student enrolled in 1-8 credit hours, then NO WAIVER is needed.

  • If you do not have health insurance and you are enrolled in one or more credit hours, then you have the option to ENROLL in the Student Health Plan and the semi-annual premium will be charged to your student account.Go to: https://access.smu.edu (Note: The Health Insurance button in the Student Center component of Access.SMU will appear only after a student has enrolled for classes each semester.)

*A domestic student is one who is a U.S. Citizen or holds a permanent resident card (green card).
