Dr. Doone Wyborn is a research specialist in the geological fields of igneous and metamorphic petrology and ore genesis, particularly in relation to economic aspects of granite magmatism, with regional expertise in most Australian states. He also has extensive international geological experience in Antarctica, Indonesia, Brazil and China; as well as more than 25 years with the Bureau of Mineral Resources, Geology and Geophysics and the Australian Geological Survey Organisation.
Doone has worked on the potential of hot fractured rock (HFR) geothermal energy since 1992 and is recognised as the leading Australian expert authority on this subject.
He is a member of the Executive Committee of the International Energy Agency Geothermal Implementing Agreement and studied Hot Fractured Rock (HRF) geothermal projects in Japan, Europe, and the USA before founding Geodynamics with Dr.’s Bertus De Graaf and Prame Chopra in 2001.
He was also Project Manager of a joint Pacific Power and ANU deep drilling geothermal research project in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales, Australia, with partial funding from the Australian Greenhouse Office.
