Proficiencies and Experiences

Writing (W): In addition to the Discernment & Discourse sequence, you will take two courses in which you compose coherent, well-supported and carefully edited essays and reports suitable for a range of different audiences and purposes. Two W-courses, beyond the Discernment and Discourse sequence, are required. NOTE: Writing Proficiencies must provide multiple opportunities for students to improve their writing. Just assigning written work is not sufficient.

Writing: Student Learning Outcomes

1. Students will continue to be able to meet the Student Learning Outcomes from the Foundation of Written Discourse, Introduction to Academic Discourse, and Inquiry Seminar classes.
2. Students will be able to write thesis-driven texts that analyze, evaluate or synthesize information and concepts presented in the course.
