Libraries receive $26K in grants
The Friends of the SMU Libraries gave a total of $26,734 in grants
to the SMU Libraries in 2003. The funds will be used for the following:
• $5,000 to Fondren Library Center Reference Services to
purchase the Readers Guide Retrospective: 1890-1982.
• $4,432 to Central University Libraries (CUL) for software
enhancements in the Assistive Technology Center.
• $3,000 to Bridwell Library to help fund a renovation project
to accommodate compact shelving donated by the Frito Lay Company.
• $3,000 to CUL to help finance the production of its annual
report.
• $2,021 to SMU Libraries systems and CUL Information Support
Services to purchase a Tablet PC for shared staff use.
• $2,000 to DeGolyer Library to help ship donations from
the Massachusetts Historical Society's newspaper collection from
Boston to SMU.
• $1,828 to the Business Information Center for software
and hardware that will be used to capture and record computer screen
activity in video format with accompanying voice narration.
• $1,590 to the Norwick Center for Media and Instructional
Technology (NCMIT) to purchase a professional digital video recorder.
• $1,000 to the SMU Literary Festival.
• $540 to the NCMIT to purchase supplies for the SMU Video
Archives Series on the history of the University.
• $500 to fund the Continuing Excellence Library Staff Recognition
Award.
• $500 to support the Library School Scholarship Award.
• $500 to CUL Collection Development to purchase the Oxford
Encyclopedia of Economic History.
• $423 to the Institute for the Study of Earth and Man Library
for the purchase of the Encyclopedia of Urban Cultures.
• $400 to the NCMIT to purchase a portable standing podium.
