Congratulations to Lade Obamehinti, SMU’s 2012 Student Employee of the Year!

Lade Obamehinti currently holds three student positions at the Altshuler Learning Enhancement Center (night manager, tutor and office assistant) and was nominated by Brian Argenbright, Assistant to the Director, and Adreana Julander, Associate Director. Her responsibilities include assisting the Assistant to the Director of the LEC with all data entry and administrative tasks, monitoring the front desk, answering phones, directing students, and tutoring US History.

“Lade arrived one night when the LEC was extremely busy. She was there to get tutoring and noticing how busy the LEC was, asked if night manager help was needed. It definitely was, and she was hired on the spot. This illustrates the incomparable role she plays here – she sees a need and tries to address it. She is always smiling and truly enjoys helping others and assisting the LEC. Her high growth in professionalism motivated the LEC to put her to work tutoring US History. It also led us to use Lade as a replacement student worker assistant which tripled her job description from the beginning as a night manager. She is great at finding correct answers for complicated phone calls or questions at the front desk. All staff members of the LEC do not hesitate about giving her any task because we know she can handle them. She even takes on tasks that are not technically part of her job description and does them with ease, efficiency, and accuracy. Lade is by far the best candidate for this award. The LEC could not function at this point in time without her.”
