Mission Statement
The Financial Aid Office at Southern Methodist University is committed to serving students by providing information to secure the necessary financial resources to meet their educational goals and financial obligations to the university. Our financial aid advisors offer personal attention to help explore a multitude of available scholarships, grants, loans, and payment plans.
The goal of the financial aid program at SMU is to provide financial assistance to students who would not be able to attend college without aid. The university expects that students and parents will contribute to the fullest extent of their ability from income and assets. When considering ways to fund their college education, students should explore all possibilities and adhere to application deadlines. It is the responsibility of the student to complete their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the CSS/Profile in a timely manner.

Bulletin
An organization calling themselves the Student Financial Resource Center is requesting information from continuing and first year students. This is NOT a request from the Department of Education or from Southern Methodist University. Student Financial Resource Center is NOT affiliated with SMU, the US Department of Education or the College Board. If a document request is questionable then students may refer to Step 2 in FA Pony Tracks through ACCESS.SMU.EDU or may contact SMU Enrollment Services at 214-768-3417 to confirm which documents are needed for financial aid processing.
Filing the Free Application Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is free. Families do not have to pay to file this form. Also, there are many no cost scholarship search engines like Fastweb.com and CollegeBoard.org. If you have any questions, you can contact the SMU Financial Aid Office at 214-768-3417.
