UT-Southwestern Medical center

The University of Texas - Southwestern Medical Center is one of the premier medical schools in the United States, located just twenty minutes from the SMU campus.  With state-of-the-art programs in medical research and patient care, Southwestern is deeply involved in bioethics and medical ethics issues and offers many opportunities for fruitful collaboration with the Ethics Center.

WORKING TOGETHER FOR ALL OF DALLAS

Over the years, we have co-sponsored a creative writing competition for medical students, participated in numerous conferences and departmental grand rounds, collaborated in Southwestern's Program in Ethics in Science and Medicine, contributed to the planning of Ethics Grand Rounds, and collaborated with the institutional ethics committees for Parkland Memorial Hospital, Children's Medical Center, and Zale-Lipshy Hospital.  The Ethics Center is also pleased to have faculty representatives from Southwestern on our Faculty Advisory Committee.

CONFERENCE OF THE PROFESSIONS

In addition, the Ethics Center and Southwestern have been two of the five permanent co-sponsors of the annual Conference of the Professions, a unique ethics-centered program for physicians, clergy, and lawyers.  Click here for more details about this unique series, which is now in its third decade of bringing career-enhancing, challenging programs to Dallas professions.
