Some
of our VIPs this month are:
Stephen Forrest - I just wanted to let you
know how much assistance Stephan has given the SF tech team this week.
We had certain data we needed to pull from the spring cancellation
process and join with other tables. After several hours of trying,
I knew I was unable to write the query we needed. So I went down
the hall and asked the "QUERY EXPERT" if he had time to help me.
He was very gracious and said "no problem". I know he was busy,
however he took the time to help anyway. He saved the day for us
and whipped the query out in not time. I offered him candy and
coke however he declined. So I must reward him with a written
acknowledgement and Thank You. -- Patricia May Stephanie Nonemacher - Thank you so much.
I would like to compliment you on doing your job so well. You are
professional, competent and relialbe. I have told many people
since working with you the first time on the bookstore charges and
credits on my account, that you are the best. Actually I tell them
you are the bomb! but that sounds funny from someone in my generation.
Thank you for doing your job so well. You are an asset to
Enrollment Services and SMU. Cara Hendricks - From the first day working
with FA, Cara has taken the reigns and has moved forward with her
position. I have never been so happy to have someone like her on
my team. I know that I can be out of the office and things won't
fall apart. She has taken it upon herself to help me organize my
busy schedule and keep me afloat during Barbara Waters' absence. I
could not do the things I do the things to do with out her help. --
Thomas Frazier Bill Chandler - Bill takes the time to LISTEN
to my needs. He explains well and goes out of his way to help.
I give him A+++. Marcia Miller - Excellent Customer Service
across the board. Melissa Ferrell - Melissa receives 5 stars for
her helpfulness.

Once there was a boy, who
listened to a wise old man, and thus began to learn about The Present.
The old man and the boy had known each other for more than a year, and
enjoyed talking together.
One day the old man said,
“It is called simply ‘The Present’ because, of all the gifts you might
receive, you will find this present is the most valuable one of all.”
“Why is it so valuable?” the boy asked.
The old man explained. “Because when you receive this gift, you become
happier and better able to do whatever you want to do.”
“Wow!” the little boy exclaimed, although not fully understanding. “I
hope someone gives me The Present someday. Maybe I’ll get it for my
birthday.”
Then the boy ran off to play.
The old man smiled.
He wondered how many birthdays would pass before the boy would realize
the value of The Present.
Spencer Johnson, author of Who Moved My Cheese, tells the
story of the old man and the little boy in The Present, The Gift that
Makes You Happy and Successful at Work and in Life. Johnson shows
that by being in the Present, learning from the Past, and planning for
the Future one can find happiness and success.
Below (in the Staff Development section) are excerpts from The
Present. See how you can use these simple concepts to enhance your
life at work and at home.
