The English Department is pleased to welcome Angela Ards.  Prof. Ards is a leading scholar of African American Literature.  She teaches all periods but she is particularly interested in the writing of contemporary African American women.

Events

The English Department at SMU hosts many events throughout the year.  The Gilbert Lecture Series brings to campus best-selling authors and world-renowned literary scholars.  Faculty members share their work in lively Brown Bag sessions.  Sigma Tau Delta, the National Honor Society for English Students, hosts colloquia and mixers.
