READING AT SMU
REACHING YOUR ACADEMIC POTENTIAL!

The Mustang Learning Center for Youth focuses on the exact skills your child needs to be a successful reader. With academic evaluation and individualized instruction, children can advance to their reading potential. Our reading programs are designed to bring children up to grade level and to turn good readers into excellent readers.

Mustang Reading Clinic

Students work with reading instructors trained in the MONDO reading curriculum, a research-based, explicit and systematic approach to teaching reading. Instruction is driven by assessment so it is carefully matched to the needs of your child. The clinic will meet four days a week, Monday-Thursday, from 9-9:55 or 10-10:55.

Session One meets Monday-Thursday, 9-9:55 or 10-10:55, June 4th - June 28th

Session Two meets Monday-Thursday, 9-9:55 or 10-10:55, July 2nd - July 31st

Call Melinda McGrath, Center Director, at 214-768-2220 to register your child and for further information.

Age: Children who have completed Kindergarten, grades 1st - 3rd

Summer Family Reading Program

This is a unique reading model that teaches parents (or other family members) how to support their child's reading growth at home over the summer. This is especially well-suited for parents who want to provide daily reading instruction but because of a lack of time, funds or knowledge, find this difficult to provide. Lessons from the MONDO curriculum are modeled for you. Then you will practice conducting the lessons, while a trained reading coach rotates around the room answering questions and providing assistance. The reading coach will provide feedback and lessons for you to work with at home until you return the following week for additional discussion and lessons.*

Available by individual appointment.

Program Costs: $150 plus $50 registration fee

Age: Children who have completed Kindergarten, grades 1st - 4th

SRA Early Interventions in Reading is research-based and designed to ensure few student errors, providing every student with the best opportunity to succeed.*
