Professional Development for Educators

SMU has a distinguished history of offering a wide variety of special workshops, lectures, and seminars that address issues of contemporary social and scholarly interest to teachers and school administrators. Most are noncredit, but some offer graduate or undergraduate credit.  Regular offerings include:

"Occasional" workshops and seminars address topics such as:

  • Mastering TAKS for TAAS social studies
  • Physical science and technology projects
  • Webmastering
  • Special content-area workshops
  • Montessori workshops
  • Art
  • Conflict resolution in the school setting
  • Using instructional technology to facilitate learning
  • Engineering and computer science programs
