Master of Education (M.Ed.)
The Master of Education degree is designed for the educator whose interest lies in broadening both academic preparation and classroom skills.

Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Reading and Writing
The Master of Education degree in Reading and Writing at Southern Methodist University is uniquely designed to prepare teachers for leadership in the implementation of the multi-tiered model of reading instruction currently being put into effect in schools in Texas and across the country.

Master of Education with Certification (M.Ed.)
A 36-credit-hour degree program that allows individuals with baccalaureate degrees who are not certified to teach to earn a Master's degree while completing teacher certification requirements in Early Childhood-6, Middle School, or High School.

Master of Bilingual Education (MBE)
Master of Bilingual Education (MBE) with a Gifted Education Focus

Each of the two MBE programs––one that is a broad traditional program and one that focuses on gifted students who are limited in English proficiency--requires the completion of  36 credit hours of interdisciplinary study and is designed––for teachers of students who are limited in English proficiency.
