Elementary Certification

We offer Early Childhood - Grade 6 Generalist Certification. A Bachelor's Degree is required along with the following courses:

• EDU 5327 Teaching & Learning
• EDU 5355 Teaching Mathematics in Elementary School
• EDU 5357 Emergent Literacy
• EDU 5358 Conventional Literacy
• EDU 5318 EC-4 Formative/Summative Assessment
• EDU 5331 Content Area Studies for Elementary School
• EDU 5349 Learning Environment and Professionalism (EC-12)
• EDU 5121 Field Experience I (Beginning)
• EDU 5122 Field Experience II (Intermediate)
• EDU 5123 Field Experience III (Advanced)

All above courses must be completed before enrolling in any of the following courses:

• EDU 5363 Student Teaching
• EDU 5364 Student Teaching
• EDU 5385 Internship
• EDU 5386 Internship

The following state examinations are required for certification:

• TExES - EC-Grade 6 Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities
• TExES - EC-Grade 6 Generalist
