The 45-credit-hour program is designed to be completed within 13 months. Students begin the program in July 2012 as part of a cohort, taking courses in a prescribed sequence. The first course is EDU 6140 which meets for 8 days in July, followed by two 7-week modules offered during the fall semester, two 7-week modules offered during the spring semester, and two 4-week modules offered during the summer.
Instructional methods include classroom learning, individual and collaborative projects, and extensive field-based experiences in which research-based principles are applied in school settings.
