The SMU Certificate Program in Financial Planning combines expert instructors, CFP-Board registered curriculum, flexible course schedules, and a "Pacesetter Path" to provide the premier financial Planning educational program in North Texas. In under nine months, complete the required coursework towards obtaining the prestigious CFP® certification, and earn a certificate in financial planning from SMU.

Choose a starting date

Students may join the SMU Program in January, April or September.

Choose one of three pacing options

Beginning in April or September on the main campus in Dallas:

  • Traditional Path: One course per quarter
  • Pacesetter Path: Two courses per quarter
