Anthony Picchioni, Ph.D.
Director

Dr. Tony Picchioni is Director of the Dispute Resolution Program and teaches, as well, in the areas of Alternative Dispute Resolution, Mediation, Negotiation, Counseling, Conflict Management, and Decision Theory.

Dr. Picchioni has contributed his extensive knowledge and experience in dispute resolution to train corporate executives and business people across the United States and abroad. He has provided conflict management, dispute resolution and/or negotiation training for corporations such as Southwest Airlines, Lucent Technologies, The Society of Petroleum Engineers, and Tenet Health System, as well as many others.

With more than twenty years experience as a mediator, Dr. Picchioni, has assisted in resolving all manner of disputes, including those involving employment, commercial contracts, inter-departmental conflicts, and family matters. He is a member of the Association for Conflict Resolution, Texas Mediation Association, and on the Board of Directors of Dispute Mediation Services, a non-profit mediation organization in Dallas, Texas.

In addition to being a teacher and dispute resolution professional, Dr. Picchioni is also a therapist who has worked in private, group and hospital practice. He has authored numerous articles on behavioral health, social science and mental health law. In 1994, he was appointed by Governor Bush to serve on the State Board of Examiners for Licensed Professional Counselors, where he was soon elevated to Chairman of the Licensing Board and of the Complaints Committee.

Dr. Picchioni received his Ph.D. from the University of North Texas in Counseling. He has also done extensive post-graduate studies in Dispute Resolution at The Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School, Pepperdine Law School and CDR Associates in Boulder, Colorado. He is co-author of the book, Mediation--Skills and Techniques (Lexis/Nexis 2008).
