
A native of Dallas, Sol Villasana has over twenty-five years of courtroom and other legal experience. He now devotes his practice primarily to mediation. His legal career began in the Dallas office of a national law firm. He was Assistant Dallas City Attorney, an Assistant General Counsel for the State Bar of Texas, and during Governor Ann Richards’ administration he was Special Assistant to the Executive Director of the Department of Commerce. Sol has represented students and their parents, as well as commercial clients, in matters involving several independent school districts. He received his law degree from the University of Texas at Austin and his undergraduate at Southern Methodist University.
Sol is former Chair of the Hispanic Advisory Committee of the Dallas Independent School District, past President of the Dallas Democratic Forum, and served as a Dallas County Grand Jury Commission. He’s been on the board of several organizations including the SMU Alumni Association, the Shakespeare Festival of Dallas, The Family Place and the Dallas Museum of Nature and Science.
Sol has received several awards including the Dallas Bar Association’s Distinguished Pro Bono Service Award, and was chosen for inclusion in The Dallas Business Journal’s “Who’s Who in Dallas.” He has often appeared as a guest commentator on television and radio. Sol is a prolific writer, having had his work published in D Magazine, The Dallas Morning News, The Dallas Observer, Barrister Magazine, and several other publications.
