Dr. McCortney received her Master of Education and her Ph.D. in
Counselor Education from the University of North Texas where she has
taught as an Adjunct Instructor since 2001. Through her private
practice in McKinney, Dr. McCortney helps clients with a variety of
issues such as eating disorders, depression, disabilities, and stress
management, and as a Licenced Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S),
she facilitates counseling with family, teacher, and substance-abuse
groups in Denton and other north Texas cities. For her dissertation,
Dr. McCortney examined the quality of the work environment for Counselor
Education faculty across the nation. She is currently (2008) working on
manuscript that addresses depression and anxiety in graduate-student
counselor trainees.
