IRVING SEVENTH GRADERS TO DEMONSTRATE TOY CARS BUILT THROUGH "A WORLD IN MOTION" PROGRAM

WHEN: Friday, Dec. 8
12:15 to 1:00 P.M.

WHERE: Houston Middle School, Irving.

WHAT:

Students in Ms. S.'s 7th grade class will demonstrate the toy electric cars they have built as part of the "A World in Motion" program sponsored by the Society of Automotive Engineers.

A World in Motion is a fun, hands-on program designed to help introduce elementary and middle school children to basic concepts in science and technology. Different projects are available for students in grades 4 through 8.

The program will help prepare students for concepts that will be covered when science is added to the TAAS test in 2002-2003.

More than 2000 students in the Metroplex- including 1000 students in Irving- are participating in the program this year.

FOR MORE INFO:

For more information on "A World in Motion," contact Charles Lovas, associate professor of mechanical engineering at Southern Methodist University.

For more information on Friday's demonstration at Houston Middle School in Irving, call Ms. P., middle school science coordinator for Irving ISD.
