The intensive and innovative Dedman College anthropology program spans the humanities and social, Earth, and biological sciences to give you a well-rounded, holistic approach to human similarities and differences. Degree Highlights

B.A. in Anthropology
For students who seek general training in anthropology
Minimum of 30 term hours (10 classes)

B.S. in Anthropology
For students who want more specialized training in anthropology
Minimum of 36 term hours (12 classes)

Minor in Archaeology, Cultural Anthropology, or General Anthropology
Minimum 15 term hours (5 classes)

Minor in Biomedical Anthropology
Minimum 18 term hours (6 classes)

Faculty

Internships & Study Abroad

Dedman College students get paid internships through the Hegi Family Career Development Center. Students majoring in anthropology may be eligible to earn up to three (3) graded credits toward their degrees by enrolling for unpaid, faculty-directed internships through the Dedman College Internship Program.

Study abroad opportunities abound for SMU undergraduate students. Choose from yearlong, semester, or summer programs at locations around the globe. Anthropology majors might find the SMU-in-Australia, SMU-in-Copenhagen, and SMU-in-Japan international study programs particularly valuable and interesting.
