Obtain a Student ID card and a parking permit.
To obtain these essentials, please visit the Park & Pony Office on the first floor of the
Hughes-Trigg Student Center (Building #36 on the
SMU campus map). You may also access the
Park & Pony website
The ID indicates the permanent student identification number. The ID card is used for
meals, health center services, cashing checks, Pony Express debit accounts, admittance to
athletic events and Dedman Center for Lifetime Sports, residence hall access and library

Check the accuracy of your personal information on Access.SMU. Access.SMU
is a self-service system in which students enroll/drop classes, view the schedule of classes,
view grades, view and request transcripts and degree progress reports, view financial aid and
student account information, and update/verify personal portfolio—addresses, phone numbers,
emergency contact and demographic summary.
If you have not all ready done so, it is very important that you go
on-line under your Personal Portfolio and check the accuracy
of this information. If this information is not verified in a timely manner, a hold may be placed
on your account for any future enrollment terms at SMU.

Make an appointment with your advisor. Evening
Studies students are urged to meet with their academic advisor prior to enrolling for a term for
assistance in scheduling courses that will count toward their graduation requirements. After the
initial advising session, students are encouraged to seek assistance from their academic advisor
when considering adding and dropping courses. Students have the final responsibility for the
accuracy of their enrollment, the applicability of their courses towards their degree requirements,
and their academic performance.

Check Access SMU for your enrollment
appointment time and any service indicators (holds) which need to be cleared prior
to your enrollment.

Check Access SMU for course availability by using
Class Search. For a listing of courses in the General Education Curriculum, visit the
Registrar's
web site
Evening Studies courses will
have "restricted seats" to be claimed by evening studies students.

Enroll in your classes. You may enroll from any web-based computer. Computers
are available for you to use in the Self Service Area, Room 102 Blanton Building, the home of
the Division of Enrollment Services. For web registration instructions, please visit the
Registrar's
web site.

Make tuition and fee payments. You will be sent an invoice, by mail or
email depending on when you enroll. Be sure to update your billing address, and check your
SMU campus email on a regular basis. You may also view your account
on-line.
Please pay your invoice on or before the payment due date. Students whose accounts are not
cleared by the deadline may have their class registration cancelled. Payment can be made
on-line. For further information on payment due
dates, please refer to the Bursar's web site.

Purchase your textbooks. The SMU Bookstore is located in the Park Cities
Plaza Shopping Center, 3060 Mockingbird Lane (next to La Madeleine). You may also contact the
bookstore at (214) 768-2435. Please visit the SMU
Bookstore’s website to receive more information about store hours, ordering textbooks
on-line, and reserving
textbooks.

Check your SMU email account. You have all ready
received a letter with your email account and password. The University uses the
student’s email account as the official means of communication for notification
of deadlines and other important announcements. Please review the
