Students emerge solidly prepared for business, clinical, or research applications in the workplace or graduate school. Many students on the premed track choose psychology as their major because of the department’s health orientation.
Some of today’s most intriguing research in the field of psychology is conducted by our nationally recognized faculty members, who enlist students to help in their endeavors. Some areas of research include anger and violence, chronic pain, and mood disorders. The SMU Family Research Institute, an initiative to create a world-class center for the study of family-related issues, will involve psychology faculty and students in finding solutions to problems that face parents and children.
