Mathematics

Welcome to the Department of Mathematics. We foster an environment that is supportive with hands-on instruction while promoting the proficiency needed to prepare for a wide range of career possibilities.

Our particular strengths are in computational and applied mathematics. The department offers B.S. and B.A. degrees in mathematics with specializations in applied and/or numerical mathematics, pure mathematics, computer science and computer engineering, engineering, and operations research. We also offer M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in computational and applied mathematics.

Current research includes numerical analysis of ordinary and partial differential equations, mathematical software, dynamical systems, fluid dynamics, and nonlinear optics. Many members of our faculty are affiliated with the Center for Scientific Computation.

In this site you can find information about our faculty programs, the Center for Scientific Computation, and the wide range of research.
