Four Schools

SMU's Four Undergraduate Schools

Southern Methodist University has four schools from which undergraduate degrees can be earned. Combinations of multiple majors and minors are possible and encouraged, including combinations among the four schools:

1. Dedman College Humanities and Sciences
   a.  Dedman I, houses all pre-majors
   b.  Dedman II, declared Dedman majors

2. Cox School of Business

3. Meadows School of the Arts

4. School of Engineering

Each school has different majors/minors and different entrance requirements, and they are listed in alphabetical order within that school's section of the catalog.

The difference between Dedman I and Dedman II is as follows:  All new and transfer students are Dedman I pre-majors until they declare a major into one of the four schools.

Dedman II students are declared majors within Dedman College.

A transfer student who has completed the requirements to declare their desired major may enter the  major directly.
