Donor Services oversees the timely and accurate maintenance of donor information, including biographic/demographic data and gift and pledge entry, managing data integrity, and demonstrating good stewardship of donors' commitments to SMU. The division also identifies system needs, scope, solutions, and timelines on complex projects, and serves as liaison to the technical developers in addressing those needs. Donor Services is also responsible for regulatory reports such as CASE and CAE. Business Process Review Ops Comm departments may desire guidance in evaluating current business processes. Central Ops Comm provides assistance in evaluating those processes and recommending improvements and efficiencies, both systemic and organic. Access.SMU Support Members of the Central Ops Comm staff represent DEA on campus-wide committees such as the Steering Committee and the Module Leads Team. The Department participates in the identification and resolution of Access.SMU issues for Contributor Relations (CR), including documentation and collaboration with the technical developers. The Administrative Systems Issue Workflow is a visual representation of the process for opening and resolving issues, and the Business Process Decision Documentation is a narrative version of the process. Members of the Department also represent SMU on PeopleSoft and HEUG committees as CR advisors. Regulatory Reporting Central Ops Comm serves as DEA liaison to regulatory agencies such as CASE (Council for the Advancement and Support of Education), The Chronicle of Philanthropy (Philanthropy 400), US News & World Report, and CAE (Council for Aid to Education). In addition, analysis of gift income and fund raising reports is provided as needed. There are two departments within Donor Services: Records and Gift Administration Constituent Records maintains biographical data on alumni, friends, parents, and organizations. Records also oversees the integrity of alumni and donor data, proactively identifying and addressing data quality needs through audit reporting. Gift Administration records all types of gifts and pledges, issues tax receipts and provides information for internal and external constituencies in an accurate, timely and responsible manner. The area also serves as a liaison between DEA and Accounting and as the resident experts on CASE and IRS regulations. Donor Relations Maintenance and enhancement of the relationships between SMU and donors through good stewardship of their contributions are the primary responsibilities of the Donor Relations office. The department oversees a donor recognition strategy that includes acknowledgment and reporting, public recognition, and print recognition.
