The Stewardship Manager is responsible for the donor stewardship
activity and marketing efforts within the Planned and Endowment Giving
Unit of Development and Alumni Affairs.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Managing the entire workflow for the annual endowment reporting process to donors which includes training staff campus-wide, delegating tasks to other team members, ensuring deadlines are met and communicating with colleagues across the campus;
- Managing donor recognition and acknowledgment efforts in collaboration with the office of Donor Relations;
- Responding to donor requests and concerns;
- Establishing new donor stewardship events;
- Creating and managing marketing efforts for the unit, which includes print, online, and electronic media;
and
- Collaborating with Development staff and leadership, including Directors of Development and their staff, the Offices of Donor Relations, Integrated Marketing, Program Services, and various faculty and academic directors.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required. Graduate degree a plus. A minimum of three years' of work experience is required, preferably in
a position requiring strong project management, writing and editing
skills.
Fundraising and/or marketing experience highly desired, preferably in a
non-profit or higher education setting. Work experience that includes
responsibility for Web site development and updates a plus.
Candidates must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal
communication skills with the ability to build relationships with a wide
range of constituencies. Must demonstrate a high degree of
professionalism. Demonstrated writing and editing skills are essential.
Must demonstrate analytical and problem solving skills with
the ability to be resourceful and demonstrate good judgment. Must also
demonstrate a systematic approach to project management and strong
project management skills.
Candidates must possess the ability to work independently with little
supervision. A strong knowledge of electronic information systems and
working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) is
essential.
Expertise with a constituent records database system is preferred;
PeopleSoft (Access.SMU) experience is a plus.
