HOW TO SUBMIT

BY SUBMITTING MATERIALS YOU ARE AGREEING TO BE LEGALLY BOUND BY THE TERMS OF THE RELEASE FORM. BE SURE YOU READ IT BEFORE SENDING IN SUBMISSIONS.

Anyone may contribute materials to the Bulletin Board. Please submit only those materials that you are willing to share and make available for downloading and reproduction for classroom use. You may submit materials for which you have a copyright. These materials will be available for downloading and use with the stipulation that they may not be changed. Include a copyright notice on the page.

All submissions will be checked for appropriateness, accuracy, content and correct notation usage. Corrections will be suggested and the submiters will be responsible for amending materials when necessary.

Examples of student work may be posted exactly as done by the student. This means they may be in the students own handwriting and may also include notation errors.

COVER PAGE

All submitted materials should include a cover page. If you have an existing file that you do not want to rearrange, the cover page can be put in a separate file. The cover page must contain the following information:

  • Name of submittor
  • Date
  • Affiliation
  • Phone
  • E-mail address
  • Credits, as approproptiate, for anyone else who has rights to the material. This may be a choreographer, a student who did the notation, etc.
  • Title of file
  • Any pertinent information needed to be able to use materials in the file. This may include the music used for a reading, historical information, prop specifications, etc.
  • Age group or groups for which material is appropriate
  • Suggested bulletin board category(s) where the material should be placed.

MATERIAL FORMAT

You may submit material via e-mail, as an attachment, or by mailing in a disk.

TO SUBMIT VIA E-MAIL

1. Materials may be submitted electronically by attaching the files to an e-mail and sending them to:

ilenefox@dancenotation.org

2. We can accept files in the following formats:

  • Microsoft Word
  • LabanWriter
  • 3.2.4
  • LabanWriter 4.0
  • GIF files
  • JPEG Files (GIF is preferred)
  • TIFF Files (JPEG is preferred)

3. Any files created using Calaban should be converted to GIF or JPEG files (GIF is preferred.)

4. Files created using graphic software such as Photoshop or by scanning should be saved as or converted to JPEG or TIFF format. (JPEG is preferred.) Save as the highest quality possible.

NOTE: To send LabanWriter 4.0 files: Any files created using LabanWriter 4.0 need to be stuffed before they can be sent. If they are not stuffed, they will not arrive intact. Stuffit Lite can be downloaded from the Web. It is also a good idea to stuff any large graphics files, this will make sending them go faster. You can stuff more than one file into the same archive. In Stuffit Lite, first open an new archive by selecting New under the File menu. Give your achive a name, it will end in ".sit." Then under the Archive menu, select Stuff which will enable you to select the files you want to include. Once you have selected everything you need to include, hit the "Stuff" button. You may now attach this file to your e-mail the same way you attach any file.
