Rhonda Blair

As faculty president, Rhonda Blair resided over a record number of faculty senate meetings, many addressing concerns over the Bush Library Institute. Her voice has been heard in several media outlets as she sheds light on the faculty’s involvement in the negotiations.

James Hopkins
- Senator At-Large (2006-2009)
James Hopkins is a history professor who has co-authored resolutions addressing the Executive Order 13233. Hopkins has served as faculty senate president and currently serves as chair of the academic planning committee. The committee initially filtered the proposed resolutions intended for Faculty Senate voting because of the high number proposed. (Read President Blair’s remarks on the committee).

Tom Knock
Tom Knock, a professor of history, is a member of the editorial board of the the journal Presidential Studies Quarterly and of the board of trustees of the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library. He has done extensive research in several presidential libraries and collections throughout his career and has served on President Turner's Academic Planning Comittee on the Bush Library since its inception.

Dennis Foster

- Dedman college Division I Senator (2006-2009)
- With the two resolutions proposed, Foster argued the SMU name should be left out of the official title or charter of the institute.
- Dennis Foster is the newly elected president of the Faculty Senate.

Benjamin Johnson
Matthew Wilson
Matthew Wilson (Dept. of Political Science) was the first supporter of the Bush Library center in its entirety to vocalize his opinion on campus voices. He has repeatedly offered a viewpoint of support for the complex during faculty discussions. He had argued in favor of the Bush Library Center in its entirety
William McElvaney
Reverend William McElvaney is a professor emeritus (Perkins) who co-wrote (along with Dr. Susanne Johnson) the initial opinion editorial in November that questioned the value of having the Bush Library center on campus. McElvaney has a long history with SMU (think McElvaney Hall.) He, his mother and his daughter all earned degrees from SMU. He wrote another piece on the library published in the Daily Campus in February.
· He has argued that the presidents policy could be “divisive on campus”
Said the library “will forever change the nonpartisan landscape for which SMU has been known and appreciated."
