It is an exciting time to be at SMU. As it prepares to enter its second century,
the University has embarked on a path that will enable it to become one of the
nation’s leading educational institutions. This path will not be without
challenges. The same can be said for CUL’s task as it reinvents itself to be a
key player in the University’s transformation. However, we have every confidence
that we are up to these challenges. The CUL staff are enormously gifted,
motivated, and passionate about serving the SMU community. We are blessed with
the support of faculty, staff and students who encourage us and appreciate our
efforts serve them, and we look forward to continuing and enriching this
partnership. We have set the bar high in our strategic plan, but, like Alice in
Through the Looking Glass, we have learned to believe in the
impossible:
“Alice laughed. “There’s no use trying,” she said; “one can’t
believe impossible things.”
“I dare say you haven’t had much practice,” said the Queen. “When I was your
age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I’ve believed as
many as six impossible things before breakfast.”
