ANALYSIS

Strength
Student requests for longer library hours, more computer workstations and coffee/food service demonstrates CULís importance and central function in the academic and social life of the campus. Increased demand for media service and the media collection reflects popular trends of learning and relaxing with multimedia and technology. The creation of library podcasts has been a new technology to reach library users. As the public at large expects more online services, CUL was able to expand online circulation services to members of the Friends of the SMU Libraries.
Attention Needed
Central University Libraries plan to add even more computers and is working with campus ITS to improve wireless connectivity in the libraries. Shelflister software will continue to be used by Central University Libraries to detect and correct shelving mistakes. 24x7 Library will continue, perhaps offering more floorspace within Fondren Library Center.
