DIVISION NEWS

TRAGEDY AT HAMON:

Some time during the weekend of July 16th and 17th, a pump failed in the mechanical room below the Greer Garson Theater.  Tragically this mechanical room is located above the film archives vault.  The basement and the film vault were flooded with water coming down from the ceiling.  The entire floor of the vault, Robert Eason’s office, and an estimated 35% of the film collection was soaked.  The contents of the vault were removed and have been dried, but the damage and value of lost material is still being assessed. The sub floor also had to be removed to make sure all the water was out.  Suffice to say this was a major event that will take quite sometime to recover from.  Images from the vault are below.
