The Norwick Center for Digital Services is comprised of the state-of-the-art Student Multimedia Center, a screening room for small and mid-size groups; and the library digital projects operation.
The Student Multimedia Center provides students access to high-end Mac computers, software, collaborative spaces and staff assistance to develop a variety of digital projects, such as DVDs, web sites, presentations, digital portfolios, and other media-intensive projects.
The Screening Room seats up to 40 people and is equipped with VHS and DVD players (both NTSC and PAL), BluRay and an installed iMac computer. Its primary function is to provide faculty a venue to screen programs outside of normal classroom hours. Other functions like presentation practice, library staff and/or student meetings, and videoconferences are also supported.
The Library Digital Projects office helps digitize and catalog items from CUL’s unique special collections, and helps create a wide variety of digital collections that are freely available on the CUL Digital Collections web page. Our ongoing projects include the creation of digital collections of SMU oral and photographic histories, politics, Southwestern art, Texas currency notes, specialized film collections, and more. In addition, nCDS still retains the digital production space located in G4 FLW for digital video projects, editing, photography, duplication, and campus cable headend services.
All of our offices and venues are conveniently located in the Information Commons in Fondren Library.
