The World War II Memorial Plaza at Southern Methodist University is located west of the Fondren Library Center in a promenade between the Science and Engineering Library and Hyer Hall. The plaza features a 40-foot diameter, semi-circular limestone bench wall, enclosing an area with a large live oak tree, ground cover and seasonal plants.

The plaza will include five bronze plaques: one dedicatory plaque mounted on a raised pedestal in the center and four plaques, bearing the names of the 134 SMU alumni who lost their lives during World War II, hung on the north end of the west wall .

Pave stones and limestone-tinted concrete will comprise the surface.  Crape myrtle trees will line the north end of the plaza.  The entire area will be lighted by traditional gas light style lampposts.
