Course Reserves
All Hamon reserve materials circulate for a two-hour loan period to ensure access for the greatest number of patrons. They may be used only within the library and cannot be renewed. Access to course reserve lists, call numbers, current status information, and electronic reserves is available through the Library Catalog.
Most print reserve items are available at the Print Circulation Desk, located on the first floor of the Hamon Library. Audiovisual reserves, including any corresponding scores, are available at the Audiovisual Center Service Window in the basement.
Overdue fines for reserve items are $1.00 per hour. Reserve items must be returned directly to the staff at the appropriate service point so that they can be checked in immediately.
Hamon print materials to be placed on reserve should be brought to the Print Circulation Desk, along with a completed Hamon Reserve Request Form. The form should include any requested materials that are housed in another SMU library; the Hamon circulation staff will handle the transfer.
For audiovisual reserves, submit the completed AV Reserve Request Form at the Audiovisual Service Window. All Audio Reserve selections will be available on iPods for check-out.
New at the Hamon!!! By special request, your audio reserve material--including analog material (e.g. LPs)--can be prepared for streaming and linked from your Blackboard page. Please contact the Library for details.
New reserve materials will be processed in the order they are received. Allow one week for processing at the beginning of a new term, and two weekdays thereafter. All reserve requests must be authorized by a faculty member. Requests may be submitted at any time that the library is open. For more information about reserve requests, please see the Faculty Guide to Library Services.
