Fondren Library Center

Humanities and Social Sciences Collections

The Fondren Library Center houses collections in anthropology, business, economics, English, foreign languages and literatures, history, journalism, philosophy, political science, psychology, and sociology. Collections of books are particularly strong in American history, anthropology, and English literature, but there are also strengths throughout history, literature, politics, and business/economics. A special strength is in Greek and Roman classics, because of the Oost family endowment.

Increasingly, the Fondren Library Center offers electronic periodicals in full text. The psychology collection, for example, has been enhanced by PsycARTICLES, which offers all of the journals of the American Psychological Association in full text. Other major collections of electronic journals include JSTOR, an electronic collection of the backfiles of hundreds of major journals; Project Muse, an interdisciplinary collection of current titles; Wiley/InterScience; ScienceDirect; and the many journals available full-text on EBSCO's Academic Search Premier and Business Search Premier.
