Search the SMU Libraries Catalog to determine which relevant resources are already in the Fort Library.
Review the Research Guides created for courses at SMU-in-Taos or consult with the Fort Burgwin Librarian for some of the topics on which the Fort Library collection can support research and some of the specific books and journal articles available on each topic.
Submit requests for additional library resources (see below).
Submit a Request at least three months before items (s) are needed. Search the SMU Libraries Catalog first to determine if the Fort Library already owns the book (s). E-mail complete bibliographic citation (s) to Fort Burgwin Librarian.
If you want selected resources from Dallas campus libraries sent to the Fort for Reserve Readings, notify the Fort Burgwin Librarian at least one month before the items are needed.
Copies of journal articles and book chapters can be scanned and the digital copy can by placed on reserve within the Library Course Reserve database. Students then have the option of reading them online or printing them.
Special sessions can be scheduled for classes on how to do research, special resources suitable for a particular course and searching for full text online resources.
If a resource (Book or Article) is needed that is not owned by the SMU Libraries, faculty can fill out the form on the Distance Service website.
